San Ramon Rotary
Colette Lay, Rotaract Advisor
Colette has been a Rotarian for 8 years and is the immediate Past President of San Ramon Rotary Club. She was the Rotary Youth Services Director and Interact Advisor for 5 years at Cal High in San Ramon, and is looking forward to helping EBC Rotaract grow!
The San Ramon Rotary does community service to improve their community and its people. Some things they do include raising money for the schools that are a part of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation, providing a dictionary for every 3rd grader, meals for seniors and the homeless, and replacing smoke detectors! The gratification comes from a smile on a child’s face, a thank you from a parent, and even a hug/handshake from an individual who is in need.

The Danville/Sycamore Valley Rotary was founded in 1989 and has over 40 members. The essential idea behind the club is service which includes working with one another to help local schools, various community organizations, and international needs. Rotary is all about giving back but a few major points to know is through Rotary, you’ll have fun experiences, community involvement, mentorship, travel, network and be around those with the same values.
An interesting “test” that all members do is the “4 Way Test.” These questions include:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
